Additional Dewatering Wells for the Avenue Station Main Entrance

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

The term “dewatering” means pumping water from the ground at a site where there will be excavation. At Eglinton Avenue West and Avenue Road, small wells have been drilled around the entire station box where the underground mining excavation will be taking place. The dewatering system is installed in two phases, drilling of the wells and then digging shallow trenches to connect the wells and lay the pipes, pumps, and valves for the system. The volume of soil that requires dewatering is significant.  Lire la suite »

Upcoming Works: Demolition at 795 Warden Avenue

What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning as early as April 11, 2018, the property at 795 Warden Avenue will be demolished to make way for the construction of one of the Traction Power Substations (TPSS) that will power the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (ECLRT).  The work will take place within a protected work zone. Traffic Change at Fairbank Station

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

On Wednesday, March 28, 2018, crews will implement a new traffic stage at Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street for work related to support of excavation and utilities relocations, including shallow excavation at the Main Entrance, pile installation and Bell relocation in the roadway. Upcoming Traffic Change and Shoring Update at Chaplin Station

WHAT WORK IS TAKING PLACE?

Chaplin Station construction continues with a variety of ongoing construction activities. Traffic changes are required in order to continue to upgrade existing/install new utilities, continue shoring activities on the north side of Eglinton, and begin shallow excavation on the north side of Eglinton.

What Work is Happening?

The Eglinton Crosstown includes a 10-kilometre underground portion, between Weston Road and Laird Drive, where 15 below-grade stations are under construction. Eleven will be built using a “cut-and cover” method and four, including Avenue Station, are going to be “mined.”
