What Work is Taking Place?

Since fall 2016, crews have been conducting support of excavation work (also known as shoring) at the Main Entrance and Service Building sites of the future Fairbank Station.  In the spring, crews began shoring of the station box, as well as wet utilities relocation, on the north side of Eglinton Avenue West.

On November 3, new temporary traffic changes will be implemented at Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West, to make way for support of excavation activities at the Secondary Entrance and northwest corner of the intersection. Shoring in the roadway will be completed in several stages.  This stage will take approximately four (4) weeks to complete.

 Hours of Work

  • Work is permitted Monday through Sunday, between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.
  • In the event that overnight work is required, the public will be notified in advance.

 What to Expect

  • Pedestrians and motorists can expect delays when travelling through the intersection.
  • Noise and dust as well as equipment and material storage within work zones can be expected.
  • For safety purposes, metal fencing, scaffolding, concrete barriers and dust cloth have been erected.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Traffic on Dufferin Street will be shifted to the east.
  • The west crosswalk will be closed and the east crosswalk will be reinstated.
  • Turn prohibitions will continue to be in effect at Dufferin and Eglinton and the surrounding area.
