Disruption from service locomotives

Dear Neighbour, 

As you may know, the Eglinton Crosstown LRT Project includes a 10-kilometre underground portion. Two Tunnel Boring Machines (or “TBMs”) are building the 3.5km eastern underground section of the Crosstown tunnels between Brentcliffe Road and Yonge Street. The TBMs are making great progress tunneling at an average rate of over 10-15 metres per day.  They have completed approximately 70% of their journey and expected to be at Yonge Street in early September. Tunnelling: What you may experience

As you may know, the Eglinton Crosstown includes a 10-kilometre underground portion, between Keele Street and Laird Drive. For the tunnelled portion, locomotives run along interim track and transport materials and haul spoils in and out of the tunnels to the extraction shafts. Demolition Work for Future Laird Station

What work is starting?

In February 2016, crews began conducting preparatory activities and utilities works including surveying, locating utilities, and drilling boreholes to obtain additional information of sub-surface utilities and ground conditions in the Laird Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East vicinity to make way for the future Laird Station.

Tunnelling: What you may experience

Dear Neighbour:

As you may know, the Eglinton Crosstown includes a 10-kilometre underground portion, between Keele Street and Laird Drive.For the tunnelled portion, we have tunnel boring machines (TBMs) operating around the clock - 24 hours a day, seven days week.

On average, the tunnel boring machines each travel approximately 10-15 metres per day. TBMs are working approximately 16-20 metres below ground, but we sometimes hear from nearby residents who may experience noise and vibration from the TBMs as they pass through the area. Lire la suite »

As you know, tunnelling continues on the Eglinton Crosstown Light Rail Transit (LRT) project as we build the underground portion of the future transit line. 

The tunnel boring machines (TBMs) operate around the clock - 24 hours a day, seven days week. On average, they each travel about 10 metres per day. Thank You Neighbour Event

Utility relocation and headwall construction for the future Avenue Station and Laird Station are complete. To thank the community for their patience during the first phase of construction, two events will be held. Look for the Metrolinx tent and the Crosstown team as we hand out warm autumn drinks and treats from local merchants!
