Subsurface Utility Engineering at Eglinton Station

avril 3, 2017

What Work is Taking Place?

  • To prepare for future construction of Eglinton Station, crews will be conducting Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) investigations along Eglinton Avenue, Duplex Avenue, Orchard View Boulevard, Hillsdale Avenue, Holly Street, Dunfield Avenue, and Yonge Street.
  • Crews will drill bore holes and use a hydro-vacuum truck within the public right-of-way to determine the location of the underground utilities and the ground conditions around the intersection for design purposes.
Timing
  • Work is expected to begin April 4th, and will take approximately 4-6 weeks to complete all investigations.
  • Each borehole will take approximately 1-3 days of work.
  • Work is permitted between the hours of 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, Monday to Friday, with work after hours and on weekends, as required.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
What to Expect
  • Intermittent lane closures may be in effect.
  • Nearby residents and businesses can expect to see heavy trucks and equipment in the area as crews move from one test hole to the next.
  • While this work is underway, nearby residents and businesses can expect to hear some noise related to the use to a saw cutter, hydro-vacuum truck, drill, and other construction equipment.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.
The construction set-up will shift often.
Please look for posted signage as you travel through the area.
