Hydro Work along Surface Section of the Eglinton Crosstown LRT at Warden Avenue

What Work is Taking Place?

In support of construction of the future At Grade stops, crews have been upgrading and relocating existing overhead hydro utilities between Pharmacy Avenue and Warden Avenue near Eglinton Avenue East.

Starting as early as Monday, November 5, 2018 and lasting for approximately two (2) weeks, crews will be conducting hydro pole installation at the north-west, north-east, and south-west corners of Warden Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East.

Hours of Work

  • Work began on Monday, November 5, 2018, and will take approximately two (2) weeks to complete.
  • This work may take place between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • The contractor may not always work during the permitted hours, but may do so at its discretion.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Lane reductions are required to safely conduct all phases of this work.
  • Nearby businesses and residents can expect noise from trucks and other construction equipment caused by utilities relocation activity.
  • For safety, fencing, dust cloth, barriers, and scaffolding may be erected around work zones.
  • Noise, dust and lighting from construction activity can be expected.
  • Expect delays when traveling near work zones within the condo parking lot.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Lane reductions will be required with a minimum of one through lane of traffic in each direction maintained.
  • There may be occurrences where a shoulder is narrowed and/or a traffic protection barrier is placed to accommodate safe working conditions.
  • Paid Duty Officers will be present during this work.
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites. 

TTC Impacts

  • TTC bus stops in the affected area may be relocated for the safety of transit riders. Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.
