Shoring and Utilities Relocation in the Roadway at Fairbank Station

 

What work is taking Place?

Since fall 2016, crews have been conducting support of excavation work (also known as shoring) at the Main Entrance and Service Building sites of the future Fairbank Station.  In mid-May 2017, crews will begin shoring of the station box, as well as wet utilities relocation, starting on the north side of Eglinton Avenue East.  Read more »

Traffic Signal Hanging at Fairbank Station

What Work is Taking Place?

To make way for station construction, crews must relocate and hang the existing traffic signals at Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West.  Traffic signal relocation will take place over five days, with curbside lane closures throughout the intersection.  Crews will install temporary traffic poles and signals at each corner of the intersection.  The temporary traffic signals and cables will be hung overhead, while the existing traffic poles are removed. LOW WATER PRESSURE NOTICE: Watermain Investigation Work

What Work is Taking Place?

On April 3, 2017, crews will begin subsurface utility engineering (SUE) investigation of a large 900mm watermain in the Eglinton Avenue West and Chaplin Crescent area.  The watermain will be exposed to determine the utility and ground conditions in advance of wet utilities relocation.  Most of the work will take place within the existing traffic staging at Chaplin Crescent and Eglinton Avenue West. Beginning the week of March 27, crews will be conducting watermain service work at the north end of Vaughan Road, south of the Main Entrance site at the southeast corner of Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West, to provide water service connection to trailers at the Main Entrance site. What Work is Taking Place?

Beginning in mid-March 2017, crews will start support of excavation work, also known as shoring, at the future Fairbank Station Service Building.  The Service Building is located on the southwest corner of Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street, and will be used to host mechanical and electrical equipment for the station.   Read more »

Beginning in March 2017, crews will begin subsurface utility engineering at the future Fairbank Station, in which boreholes will be drilled into the roadway in order to investigate underground utilities and ground conditions in advance of wet utilities relocation.  This work will take place throughout the vicinity of Eglinton Avenue West and Dufferin Street.  Read more »
