The term dewatering” means pumping from the ground water at a site where there will be excavation. At Eglinton Avenue West and Oakwood Avenue, dozens of small wells will be drilled around the entire station box where excavation will be taking place. The volume of soil that requires dewatering is significant. Wells will be drilled approximately every 10 metres and will be connected above ground with horizontal pipes, pumps and valves. A shallow trench will be required across Eglinton Ave W near the Secondary Entrance. The drills installing the wells will encircle the station box.
