What Work is Taking Place?

Crews will be driving sheet piles as part of the Support of Excavation at the Brentcliffe Portal at the eastern end of the existing work zone, beginning as early as April 17, 2018.

Due to the location of the piles, sheet piling is required. Sheet piling is loud and causes vibration. In an effort to minimize disruption to the local community, this work will be performed between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. This work is expected to take approximately three (3) weeks to complete.

This methodology is being used due to the location of the last section of the Support of the Excavation. Because of site constraints, traditional piling cannot be used in this location.

Hours of Work

  • Work will occur between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. starting as soon as April 17, 2018.
  • Work is expected to take approximately three (3) weeks to complete.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

Piles will be installed within the existing protected work zone at Brentcliffe Road and Eglinton Avenue East.

Nearby  businesses  and  residents  can  expect  noise and vibration from driving the piles, excavators,  bobcats,  trucks  and  other construction equipment.

Traffic and Pedestrian Impacts

  • Traffic and pedestrian setups will not change from current conditions.
  • Existing crosswalk and sidewalk closures will remain in effect.
  • Please watch for signs directing pedestrians to alternate routes.
