What Work is Taking Place?

As part of construction of the future Kennedy Station, crews will resume relocating watermain and sanitary utilities on Transway Crescent, starting as soon as July 15, 2018.

To reduce impacts to the community and commuters this work will be performed overnight and will take approximately three (3) weeks to complete.  The work is part of the larger upgrade and relocation of utilities for the Eglinton Crosstown LRT.

Stage 3


Hours of Work

  • Beginning as early as July 15, 2018 for approximately three (3) weeks.
  • Work will be performed overnight between the hours of 8:00 PM and 6:00 AM. The roadway will be restored each morning in advance of rush hour.
  • Pay Duty Police may be present during this work.
  • Work may be rescheduled due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.

What to Expect

  • Transway Crescent will be closed between Kennedy Road and the passenger pick-up and drop-off access driveway and turn around circle between the 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for the duration of work.
  • Access to Kennedy Station, the passenger pick-up and drop-off and the south parking lot will be maintained during construction. Motorists can access this area from the South Service Road.
  • For safety, fencing, dust cloth, barriers and scaffolding may be erected around work zones.
  • Noise, dust and lighting from construction activity can be expected.
  • Pedestrians and road users can expect delays when traveling near work zones.

Traffic Impacts

  • Transway Crescent will be closed between Kennedy Road and the passenger pick-up and drop-off access driveway and turn around circle between the 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. for the duration of work.
  • Access to Kennedy Station, the passenger pick-up and drop-off and the south parking lot will be maintained during construction. Motorists can access this area from the South Service Road.
  • Traffic staging will change over the course of the work to accommodate the various stages of construction. 
  • As always, please take care when travelling near work sites.

Pedestrian Impacts

  • The sidewalk on north side of Transway Crescent will remain open.
  • Temporary pedestrian rerouting around work zones will be necessary to accommodate this work.
  • Signage will be posted to direct pedestrians.
  • Pay Duty Officers will be present during this work to assist pedestrians and motorists.

TTC Impacts

  • TTC southbound Routes #43 and #343 will access Kennedy Station via the South Service Road.
  • The existing temporary bus stop on the west side of Kennedy Road immediately south of Eglinton Avenue will be closed during the overnight works.
  • TTC bus stops may be relocated away from work zones.
  • Please watch for posted signs indicating the adjusted locations.
  • Relocation and re-routing of bus stops is done in consultation with TTC to ensure construction can continue safely while minimizing impact on the community and customers.

Travelling Smart during Construction

  • Travel delays are expected with construction. Please allow extra time for your journey.
  • Traffic will be extra heavy at peak periods during the Eglinton Crosstown LRT construction.
