What Work is Taking Place?


On Wednesday July 24th 2019, crews at Fairbank station closed the north-east pedestrian walkway along Eglinton Ave W. The closure supports drill de-watering in four locations along Eglinton Ave W. The slight pedestrian detour around the new work zone,will last to September 6th, 2019.  Work will take place during regular working hours, Monday to Friday. Possible weekend work may be required, and notices will be updated accordingly. Access to businesses along Eglinton Ave W will remain open. Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West will remain open while work takes place.  

Hours of Work 

  • As early as Wednesday July 24th 2019 for approximately six weeks.
  • Work will occur Monday to Friday, with the possibility of weekend work. Notices will be updated accordingly.
  • In the event of inclement weather, the pedestrian detour may be extended. Notices will be updated accordingly.

What to Expect 

  • Pedestrians will be slightly rerouted around the workzone.
  • Noise and lighting can be expected from drilling activities.
  • In addition to construction activity, residents can expect to see equipment and material storage within designated work zones.


Traffic Details 

  • The pedestrian route on the west side of Dufferin will remain closed. The north, south, and east crosswalk will remain open.  
  • Access to properties along Eglinton Ave W and Dufferin St will be maintained. 
  • No impacts to TTC bus service.
