What Work is Taking Place?
As early as Tuesday, November 8, 2022, crews will begin watermain connection works on Eglinton Avenue East and Gervais Drive. This work will take approximately six (6) weeks to complete and will be carried out in three phases (refer to maps). Significant traffic and pedestrian changes will be in effect while this work takes place.
What to Expect
Work zones will be erected on Eglinton Avenue East and Gervais Drive. Concrete barriers, fencing, and signage will be in place to delineate the work zones. Noise from construction activities, including trucks, asphalt removals, and compacting can be expected. Expect delays while travelling through the area. Access to Gervais Drive from Eglinton Avenue East will be restricted while this work takes place.
HOURS OF WORK
• As early as Tuesday, November 8, 2022, for approximately six (6) weeks.
• The duration of the works will be approximately six (6) weeks; the duration of each phase is listed below:
o Phase One: Two (2) weeks.
o Phase Two: Two (2) weeks.
o Phase Three: Two (2) weeks.
• Construction activities are expected to take place between 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
• Work may be rescheduled or delayed due to inclement weather and/or unforeseen circumstances.
• This work may be longer or shorter than expected.
TRAFFIC DETAILS
• Phase One: Northbound traffic to Gervais Drive will be restricted. Two lanes of southbound traffic on Gervais Drive will be maintained. The left turn from Gervais Drive onto Eglinton Avenue East will remain restricted. Westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be reduced to one through lane at Gervais Drive.
• Phase Two: Northbound traffic to Gervais Drive will be restricted. Two lanes of southbound traffic on Gervais Drive will be maintained. The left turn from Gervais Drive onto Eglinton Avenue East will remain restricted. Westbound traffic on Eglinton Avenue East will be restored to two lanes.
• Phase Three: Northbound traffic to Gervais Drive will be restricted. One lane of southbound traffic on Gervais Drive will be maintained. The left turn from Gervais Drive onto Eglinton Avenue East will remain restricted.
PEDESTRIAN DETAILS
• Phase One: The north sidewalk on Eglinton Avenue East, east of Gervais Drive will be closed. The east sidewalk on Gervais Drive between Eglinton Avenue East and the north driveway of 15 Gervais Drive will be closed. Pedestrians will be safely rerouted around the work zone on Eglinton Avenue East. Pedestrians will be directed to use the west crosswalk on Gervais Drive.
• Phase Two and Phase Three: The east sidewalk on Gervais Drive will remain closed between Eglinton Avenue East and the north driveway of 15 Gervais Drive. Pedestrians will be directed to use the west crosswalk on Gervais Drive.
