Update: Eglinton Avenue East Extraction Shaft Work In North Lanes

What: Work continues at the extraction shaft on Eglinton Avenue between Yonge Street and Lillian Street. The next stage of work is set to begin, which will remain on the north lanes of Eglinton Avenue. What: Work on the construction of the tunnel boring machine extraction shaft located within the Eglinton Avenue roadway on the east side of Yonge Street continues. The next stage of work is set to begin, and will involve construction shifting back to the north lanes of Eglinton Avenue. This work will include daylighting and relocating utilities.

Yonge & Eglinton Avenue East Extraction Shaft Work Shifting to Centre Lanes

What: Work on the construction of the tunnel boring machine extraction shaft located within the Eglinton Avenue roadway on the east side of Yonge Street continues. The next stage of work is set to begin, and will involve construction shifting to the centre lanes of Eglinton Avenue. This work will include daylighting and relocating utilities.

When: Work shifting to the centre lanes is expected to start as soon as March 9, 2015. Timelines may be adjusted due to weather conditions and/or unforeseen circumstances.  Read more »

Monitoring Equipment Installation Work near Yonge Street: Temporary Closure of Southbound Holly Street from Eglinton

What we are building

What: Crews will be installing monitoring equipment on the west side of Holly Street, just south of Eglinton Avenue. This work is required prior to building support headwalls and an extraction shaft within the Eglinton Avenue roadway on the east side of Yonge Street, and is in addition to the current construction activities on the north side of Eglinton Avenue.   Read more »

Extraction Shaft Construction Work East of Yonge Street Shifting to North Side of Eglinton Avenue

What: Crews will be working on the construction of a large shaft including the building of support piles and a headwall, located within the Eglinton Avenue roadway on the east side of Yonge Street. 

Why: Crews are currently relocating utilities on the south side of Eglinton. During the next stage, construction of a large shaft will begin on the north side of Eglinton. Construction of this shaft will include daylighting for utilities, installation of piles, jet-grouting and excavation and decking of the roadway.   Read more »

The Eglinton Crosstown is a 19-kilometre light rail transit (LRT) line that will run along Eglinton Avenue through the heart of Toronto, with a 10-kilmetre underground tunnel in its central section. When it’s complete, the line will connect Mount Dennis in the west to Kennedy Road in the east, and will be up to 60% faster than bus service today. Read more »
