The Crosstown is one of the many projects of Metrolinx’s The Big Move. The Big Move is a 25-year, $50 billion plan that will transform regional transportation across the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Region.
Caledonia Station will be an underground station located on Eglinton Avenue West between Blackthorn Avenue and Croham Road, approximately 200 metres west of Caledonia Road and immediately west of the GO Transit Barrie corridor. The station will include a pedestrian connection to a future GO Transit station and an off-street TTC bus loop.
There will be one fully accessible entrance at north side of Eglinton, west of the GO Transit corridor.
The station will include a bus loop with two bus bays to serve TTC buses.
There will also be a plaza facing Eglinton Avenue West, between the main entrance and the driveway to the Westside Mall.
Retail spaces will be located at street level in the main entrance.
There will be 60 outdoor bicycle parking spaces.
- Metrolinx will construct a new GO station on the Barrie corridor as part of a separate project. The GO station project will include construction of a new pedestrian bridge over the rail corridor to connect the LRT and GO stations.
- Because the underground portion of the station is located outside the Eglinton Avenue right-of-way, the main entrance will be constructed directly above the platform. This arrangement provides an opportunity to bring natural light to the platform.
- There will be a new multi-use path constructed from the intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Blackthorn Avenue to the main entrance and extending to the property north of the station. The path will be integrated with the station plaza.
